To this day, Lee Carstensen Genung ’93, P’25 is grateful for the two years she spent at Westminster as a Fifth and Sixth Former. Her sense of belonging was shaped by mentors like Dick Adams P’93, Lee’s dorm parent and advisor. “He completely changed my view of myself—my academics, my confidence, everything. His guidance was life-changing.”
Now a parent of a young alumnus (Chip ’25), Lee more deeply appreciates a community where students are truly known. She thinks about what Westminster’s faculty and advisory program must have meant to her parents in Seattle when she and her brother Ted ’96 were on Williams Hill. “They had two kids 3,000 miles away but knew that the school community had eyes on us and genuinely cared about us.”
Lee joined the Thring Society just a few years after college as a way to say “thank you” to a community that saw her potential and helped her grow. By including Westminster in her estate plans, she hopes to sustain the close-knit, intentional environment and traditions that make those relationships possible. “I want future students to be known and supported in the same way.”
